I was Head of Content at Swedish edtech Kognity for 3.5 years, during which time we developed 24 titles across IBDP, IGCSE and US High School curricula.

A number of these titles achieved co-published status with the IBO or full endorsement from Cambridge Assessment. As well as managing the team’s strategy and operations, I was a people leader and spent significant time recruiting, coaching and mentoring team members.

Some of my main focuses included:

  • shifting our ways of working, including more cross-functional work with product and commercial colleagues. We also recruited heavily, growing to almost double the size to manage our wider portfolio.

  • spending a lot of time thinking together about research, value and follow-up as a team. It’s fair to say we had varying degrees of success, but I like to think it engendered a reflective culture of continuous improvement despite some of the challenges.

  • collaborating with the team around mental health, wellness and how to improve the team’s experience at work.

  • working with the team to improve our work with diversity, equity and inclusion across our team and our resources.
